Ankole Western University has graduated 70 members of the Clergy who completed their studies in Finance Management for Non-Finance Managers Short Course.
The Academic Register Mr.Muhanguzi Robert presented the successful candidates to the Vice Chancellor on a Graduation function that took place at the University Resource Center.
The AWU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Andrew Ainomugisha during his keynote speech appreciated the DOWA Bishop Rt. Rev Johnson Twinomujuni for consenting Clergy to come and study.
He asked graduates to go out and put what they learned to practice for the better functioning of church systems regarding Finance management and effective utilization of Church resources. He further encouraged them to enroll for further studies at the University which now offers Graduate and Undergraduate courses.
The Finance Management class started on 28th February 2024 and attracted over 150 students. The mode of teaching is purely hands-on, Storytelling and practicing so the university only admitted 70 students to help facilitators handle the class better.
Ven. Rev Canon Mubangizi Richard , the Archdeacon Kashenshero Archdeaconery thanked Ankole Western University leadership for considering the Clergy and developing a course that is most suitable for their career. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for his visionary leadership at AWU and for involving the Clergy in learning. He called upon his fellow graduates to be ambassadors of AWU in their respective churches and to intensify student mobilization for the University.
Rev. Byayesu Benjamin, the Bweranyangi Cathedral Vicar told the congregation that learning was successful and addressed key challenges faced by the clergy while handling church finances. He thanked all the facilitators who had a good understanding of church systems and delivered with relevance and in a storytelling teaching style which helped the Clergy grasp every concept.
