Entebbe, 15th October 2026 – The Vice Chancellor of Ankole Western University, Dr. Andrew Ainomugisha, today joined leaders of higher education institutions from across Uganda at the 15th Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum Annual Conference, currently underway at Lake Victoria Hotel, Entebbe.
The two-day conference, held under the theme “The Future of the University: Rethink, Reform or Risk Irrelevance,” was officially opened by the Executive Director of the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Prof. Mary Okwakol.
Over the course of the forum, delegates will deliberate on pressing issues shaping the future of higher education, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence in university teaching, research and administration, and the fitness of universities for purpose in a rapidly changing world.
The conference is particularly significant for AWU, which is currently integrating a Competence-Based Curriculum and AI across all departments and systems. The Vice Chancellor’s participation offers the University an opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow leaders, benchmark against emerging best practices, and strengthen its reform agenda.
