Ankole Western University graduates 418 today.

November 29, 2024December 2, 2024 Osbert AtwineUncategorized

A total of 418 have today graduated with Post graduate diplomas, Bachelor’s degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in different disciplines at Ankole Western University (AWU).
Of the graduates, 208 were females and 210 males, with 22 graduating with first class degrees.

The graduation held at Kabwohe Hill, started with instituting Dr. Andrew Ainomugisha as the 4th Vice Chancellor of the University.

The University Chancellor Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni thanked the Vice Chancellor Dr Ainomugisha and his team for grasping nettles, adjusting the sails, sacrificing much, interweaving faith and action and keeping defeat and orphan.

He congratulated the Graduands upon this achievement and cautioned them to take care of their bodies, have strategic plans for their lives and above all fear and obey God.

Bishop Johnson appealed the congregants to let their next courses of action be informed by two statements from:
Paul in Philippians 4:13, and Winston Churchill’s ” Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts”.

The Guest of Honor, Vice President represented by Hon. Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire , the Minister of Internal Affairs applauded the Bishop for his sermons, and teachings that have changed many people’s lives. He called upon clergy to further their studies and acquire a minimum of a bachelor’s degree to keep relevant and influence the masses.

He challenged Sheema Christians to Keep united, and asked them to go slow on the creation of a new Diocese noting that it will disintegrate them as people of greater Bushenyi.
To the Graduands, Hon Kahinda implored them to put what they have studied into practice to cause an impact to their communities, country and their lives.

Hon. Kahinda Pledged 25millions towards the ongoing construction of the science block.

The Chair University Council, Dr Nathan Karema, Appreciated the Bishop and Chancellor, Friends of AWU, Members of the University Council, and the Vice Chancellor for supporting the University to grow.

He congratulated, the Graduands for completing their academic journey through steadfastness. He thanked the Parents, guardians, and sponsors for supporting the students to complete their education.

Dr Karema also mentioned AWU ‘s key achievements that include continued Charter acquisition process, increased student enrollment, purchase of computers, and called upon the Chief Guest to support the university with more computers, and completion of the science block.

The Vice Chancellor Dr Andrew Ainomugisha, appreciated the Chancellor, Chair University Council, university Council and AWU staff for the zeal and support towards AWU’s growth.

He accepted the Vice Chancellor position with humility, noting that the university is right on a path that is unstoppable, with plans to acquire a charter, continue improving the student enrollment and completion of the science block that will create enough space for student learning.
Dr Andrew charged Graduands to go and put into good use the knowledge they have acquired to change their communities, country and humanity.
