The National Council for Higher Education Monitoring and Evaluation team’s visit to Ankole Western University concluded today, leaving behind remarkable positive feedback on the institution’s strengths as it prepares for its Charter. The NCHE team praised the university’s governance, Quality Assurance processes, University Policies, and clean environment, which offers students and visitors a serene and memorable experience. They also commended the generosity and warmth of the university community.
However, key areas of improvement were identified, with the team urging swift action to address them. The sooner these adjustments are made, the quicker the NCHE can return for another verification visit.
Dr. Annette Kezaabu, the NCHE team leader, applauded the commitment of AWU’s management and staff in their preparation efforts. She emphasized that while achieving the Charter is crucial, maintaining and improving processes continuously is essential for long-term success. Without consistent effort, she warned, these systems risk falling apart over time.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the NCHE team for their valuable guidance and coaching, stressing the need for further improvements to ensure that the Charter becomes a stepping stone, not an endpoint. He reassured the university community that despite the strengths noted by NCHE, much effort is needed to work on the missing links.
Dr. Medard Twinamatsiko, Vice-Chairman of the University Council, also thanked the NCHE team for their honest and constructive feedback. He affirmed the institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and reiterated the support of Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni and the entire West Ankole Diocese for the university’s journey toward achieving its Charter.
To God be the Glory, Light of the World.
